About Washington Dulles International Airport
Washington Dulles International Airport is located 44km west of downtown Washington, D.C., and serves the Baltimore–Washington Metropolitan Area. The airport is named after John Foster Dulles, Secretary of State under President Dwight D. Eisenhower. The principal terminal, designed by Eero Saarinen, is a famous landmark.
It is the busiest airport in the Washington metropolitan area, and second busiest airport in the greater Baltimore–Washington metropolitan area (after BWI Airport) with more than 22 million passengers annually. Transporting virtually all international passengers in the Washington-Baltimore region, Dulles is the busiest international airport in the Mid-Atlantic outside the New York metropolitan area. In excess of 60,000 passengers travel through Washington Dulles en route to and from some 125 global destinations.
