St. George Municipal Airport is located just over 9km southeast of central St. George, a city in Washington County, Utah, United States. This is a relatively new airport, opened in 2011 to replace a smaller airport that was unsuitable for expansion. SkyWest Airlines operates flights to St. George on behalf of Delta Air Lines and United Airlines. Flights run to and from Denver, Colorado, and Salt Lake City, Utah.
About St George, Utah
St. George is a city in the south-west of Utah, on the Arizona border. The county seat of Washington County, it is located 188km north-east of Las Vegas, Nevada, and 488km south-southwest of Salt Lake City on Interstate 15. It is the second-fastest growing metropolitan area in the United States (after Greeley, Colorado), with a population in excess of 75,000 people.
St. George is named after George A. Smith, an apostle of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the Mormons). One of the city's most notable landmarks is the St. George Utah Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which was completed in 1877. The majority of the population is Mormon.
