Car Hire Malta International Airport
Malta International Airport is Malta's only airport, serving the entirety of the Maltese Islands. It is located between Luqa and Gudja on the site of the former RAF base. Though totally remodelled and reopened in 1992, Malta International Airport is still referred to by locals as Luqa Airport. It is also called Valletta Airport because of its location 5km southwest of the Maltese capital, Valletta.
The airport is Air Malta's main hub and serves a base for Ryanair. You will find the car rental desks on the left of the Arrivals Hall, once you leave the Baggage Reclaim Area. Here, a representative of the car hire firm indicated on your Nova Car Hire booking confirmation document will make arrangements for the collection of your rental car and inform you of the drop-off details.
One of a small archipelago of islands nestled in the Mediterranean Sea, Malta is an idyllic travel destination, offering English-speaking locals, sun, sea and plenty of sand. But although Malta ticks all the boxes as the perfect package holiday destination, it also boasts one of the biggest collections of historical sites in a small area.
Malta’s tiny capital, with a population of only 6,500 people, is a stunning relic of the 16th century, when it was home and military base camp for the Knights of St John. Walking through Valletta, (itself a UNESCO World Heritage site) is like stepping centuries back in time, and history buffs will marvel at the splendour of the sandstone buildings and the stories that they tell.
