About Marmaris
The port town of Marmaris is located in the southwest of Turkey along the Mediterranean coast (Turkish Riviera) and is one of the country's most popular holiday resorts. The population of Marmaris is only about 29,000, but it can swell to around 400,000 in the high season.
It's hugely popular for sailing and yachting as there are a few marinas lining Marmaris Bay. A ferry service even operates from here to the Greek Island of Rhodes. A number of large ships dock at the port here as well.
There has been a castle in Marmaris for thousands of years – according to historians since 3,000BC. Today a museum, Marmaris Castle is the main tourist attraction in the town. So, if you're looking for an insight into the history of the area this is the place to go.
As for nightlife there are plenty waterfront bars and restaurants to choose from and during the summer months the place is buzzing with activity.
