Keep to the right where the highway divides, and continue on the right when it divides again. At the major intersection after the Cape Town International Convention Centre, take a right to enter the V&A Waterfront, and continue straight on to Cape Town.
Car Hire in Cape Town
Whatever age you are, you will never run out of things to do on South Africa’s Western Cape. Enjoy idyllic weather, awe-inspiring scenery, and a huge range of activities as you try to figure out a way of never having to leave! Rent a car in Cape Town and drive less than 40km to Simon’s Town, a delightful cove of pillow-soft sand where a colony of endearing little African “jackass” penguins has taken up residence.
You will receive an unforgettable history lesson by taking the half-hour ferry ride from Cape Town to the former maximum-security prison Robben Island. Now a UNESCO World Heritage site, Robben Island is the site of the prison where former president Nelson Mandela was jailed from 1962 to 1990, and former political prisoners now bring visitors on eye-opening tours. Take in Cape Town from the sky with a ride on the cable car up Table Mountain. This is undoubtedly the best way to see a landscape that is often featured on lists of the ultimate places to see.
