Car Hire Katowice Airport Car Hire

Katowice International Airport is located in Pyrzowice, about 32km north of the centre of Katowice, Poland. It is Poland's fourth biggest airport in terms of passenger traffic, after Warsaw, Krakow, and Gdansk. It serves more than 2.5 million passengers annually. Once you collect your rental car at Katowice Airport, you will find it easy to reach your choice of destination in Poland, as the express road S1 between the Podwarpie junction and the airport makes it easily accessible from Katowice and other cities of the region by national road 86 and from Krakow by A4 motorway or national road 94. You can also get to the airport via the national road 78 and A1 motorway.

About Katowice

As the heart of the so-called Upper Silesian Industrial District (Górnośląski Okręg Przemysłowy, or GOP), Katowice is a hub for science, culture, industry, business, conferences, and exhibitions in the Upper Silesia region and southern Poland. The GOP encompasses 14 cities and several adjacent towns, creating one enormous conurbation with a population of well in excess of 3 million.

In the wake of World War II, when the Stalinist craze was at its peak, the industrial city of Katowice was renamed Stalinogród, but it reclaimed its old name shortly after Stalin's death in 1953. You won't find many historical monuments here, but there is enough of cultural and business interest to make it worth a stop.
