Located 35km south of the capital city, Amman, Queen Alia International Airport is Jordan's largest airport. It is named after Queen Alia, the late King Hussein's third wife. The headquarters of Jordan's national flag carrier, Royal Jordanian Airlines, Queen Alia International Airport is a major hub for Jordan Aviation, Petra Airlines, Royal Falcon, and Royal Wings. The cutting-edge new terminal opened in March 2013 replaced both of the older passenger terminals, as well as the single cargo terminal. It serves more than 6.2 million passengers annually.
Amman is the capital and most populous city of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. One of the oldest continuously populated cities in the world, it operates at the heart of Jordan's political, cultural and commercial life. The Greater Amman area has a population of more than 2.8 million people. It is one of the region's main tourist destinations and is particularly popular among Gulf tourists.
