Car Hire Wakefield
Wakefield is a city in the metropolitan district of West Yorkshire, England. Located on the River Calder, on the eastern side of the Pennines, it has a population of close to 80,000 people, spread across an urban area of more than 2,000 hectares. The site of a battle in the Wars of the Roses and a Royalist base in the Civil War, Wakefield evolved into a significant market town and centre for wool, helped by its use of the River Calder as an inland port.
Wakefield was nicknamed the "Merrie City" in the Middle Ages. Its most obvious landmark is Wakefield Cathedral, whose 75 m spire is the tallest in Yorkshire. Other significant buildings in the Civic Quarter on Wood Street include the Neoclassical Crown Court of 1810, Wakefield Town Hall, and the Queen-Anne-style County Hall of 1898. The latter two are Grade I listed buildings.
Car hire in Wakefield is a very convenient way of travelling around West Yorkshire and beyond. Centrally located, Wakefield is just 18km from Leeds, 23km from Huddersfield, and 37km from Sheffield.
