Stafford is the county town of Staffordshire, in England's West Midlands region. Located about 26km north of Wolverhampton and 29km south of Stoke-on-Trent, it has a wider population of more than 120,000. The name Stafford comes from "staithe" (landing place) and "ford." Stafford is believed to have been established about 700A.D. by a Mercian prince called Bertelin.
