Directions from Prestwick Airport
Getting to and fromPrestwick Airport can be reached by taking the M77 Motorway from Glasgow city and after 8 miles the motorway becomes the A77 road. Stay on the A77 and travel for 12 miles to reach the town of Kilmarnock. Continue for another 7 miles and when you come to the Dutch House Roundabout, take the 3rd exit onto the A78 (signposted Irvine). At the next roundabout (called Monktonhill), take the 2nd exit onto the A79 and continue to follow signs for Prestwick Airport for at least another 2 miles. Driving ToTo central Glasgow: At the Dutch House Roundabout take the 1st exit to reach the A77 (signposted Kilmarnock, Glasgow) and travel along this road for about 6 miles to the town of Kilmarnock. After passing through Kilmarnock, continue for another 14 miles and you will eventually reach the M77 Motorway where you should follow signs for City Centre. Having travelled about 3 miles, look to leave the M77 and merge onto Paisley Road — A8 and upon entering Glasgow, stay on the A8 and follow City Centre signs to reach central Glasgow. To Fort William (& the Scottish Highlands/North): Travel along the A726 for about 5 miles (continuously following signs for Erskine Bridge, M8) to reach the M8 Motorway, which you should drive along for 3 miles before exiting at Junction 30 to join the M898 Motorway. The M898 becomes the A898 and you will pass a toll booth at Erskine Bridge and after half a mile you will enter Clydebank where you should branch left to merge onto Great Western Road — A82 road. Stay on the A82 road for over 92 miles (travelling through the mountains and over the summit of Rannoch Moor!) and continue to follow signs for Fort William to arrive in the picturesque town. To Edinburgh: Travel along the M8 Motorway for just over 40 miles before exiting at Junction 1 (signposted City Bypass South). This will take you onto the City of Edinburgh Bypass A720 and you should follow signs for Edinburgh Airport, Edinburgh North to reach Gogar Junction roundabout. At this roundabout, take the 2nd exit to merge onto Glasgow Road — A8 road. Stay on the A8 by following signs for City Centre and after travelling a few miles (passing Edinburgh Zoo and Murrayfield Stadium) you will arrive in the centre of Edinburgh. |
