Getting to and from Edinburgh city
Edinburgh city is in Scotland, United Kingdom located on the east coast of the country. Driving to Edinburgh cityFrom Glasgow:Leave Glasgow by taking the M8 Motorway and stay on this motorway for over 48 miles before exiting at Junction 1 (signposted City Bypass South). This will take you onto the City of Edinburgh Bypass A720 and you should follow signs for Edinburgh Airport, Edinburgh North to reach Gogar Junction roundabout. At this roundabout, take the 2nd exit to merge onto Glasgow Road — A8 road. Stay on the A8 by following signs for City Centre and after travelling a few miles (passing Edinburgh Zoo and Murrayfield Stadium) you will arrive in the centre of Edinburgh. From Aberdeen:Depart Aberdeen by following signs for the A90 and remain on the A90 road and continuously follow signs for Dundee, Perth. |

After about 65 miles you will pass through Dundee and a further 10 miles the A90 road will become the M90 Motorway. Travel along the M90 for about 16 miles when the motorway will end and become the A90 road again. Stay on the A90 for around 7 miles to enter the city of Edinburgh. You should continue to follow signs for City Centre and remain on the A90 to reach the centre of Edinburgh. From Stranraer Ferryport:Exit Stranraer Ferryport by taking the A717 before turning left onto Cairnryan Road - A77. Stay on the A77 road and follow signs for Ayr, to reach the town of Ayr after 48 miles. From Ayr, follow signs for Kilmarnock to remain on the A77. After 13 miles you will reach the town of Kilmarnock where you should follow signs for Edinburgh to eventually join the M77 Motorway after travelling approximately 11 miles. Having travelled along the M77 for about 8 miles you should keep in the right hand lane in order to merge with the M8 Motorway (signposted Edinburgh). Remain on the M8 for over 9 miles when the motorway will end and you should continue forward onto the A8 for 3 miles to arrive at the Eurocentral Interchange. Next, at Junction 6 (signposted Edinburgh) continue forward to get onto the M8 Motorway. Stay on the M8 for approximately 25 miles before exiting at Junction 1 (signposted City Bypass South). This will take you onto the City of Edinburgh Bypass A720 and you should follow signs for Edinburgh Airport, Edinburgh North to reach Gogar Junction roundabout. At this roundabout, take the 2nd exit to merge onto Glasgow Road — A8 road.
