Galway Airport is located just 6kms from Galway city center and can be accessed by taking the A6 road.
Driving To
To Galway city:
Depart Galway Airport by turning left onto the R339 and after 2 miles you’ll come to a roundabout where you take the 3rd exit onto the N6 and continue along this road to enter the city of Galway.
To Westport:
Leave Galway Airport by turning right onto the R339 and then turning left to join the N18 and follow signs for Claregalway. After arriving in Claregalway, take a right to join the N17 and drive for over 30 miles before reaching the town of Tuam.
Continue through Tuam and drive for over 17 miles to the town of Claremorris where you follow signs for the N60 – Castlebar. Drive along the N60 for over 17 miles to reach the town of Castlebar and then look to join the N5 road by following signs for Westport. Travel along the N5 for around 10 miles to reach the town of Westport.
To Spiddal (Connemara region):
Exit Galway Airport by taking a left onto the R339 and as you approach a roundabout take the 3rd exit to join the N6 and follow signs for Galway. This road will lead you into Galway city and you should now follow signs for Clifden, which will keep you on the N6 until you see signposts for Spiddal.
By following signs for Spiddal you will leave the N6 and join the R338 for less than a mile before coming to a crossroads where you turn right onto the R337 and continue to follow signs for Spiddal. After about another mile you will bear right onto Barna Road, called the R336, and remain on the R336 to arrive in Spiddal after about an 8 mile drive.
