El Postiguet Beach
If you are staying in Alicante’s city centre, then you are just a short walking distance from El Postiguet! It is about one minute of a walk from the City Hall, located at the bottom of Benacantil Hill and close to the highly impressive Santa Barbara Castle. You can enjoy plenty of beach and watersports here!
There are lots of activities to be enjoyed here for children, including plenty of playgrounds. During peak season there are plenty of live concerts held here. One of the most impressive ones is the four-night Firework tournament! This takes place at the tail end of the Hogueras de San Juan Summer Festival.
Playa San Juan
Widely recognized as the most famed Alicante beach. The beach runs from El Campello all the way to Cabo de las Huertas coastline and is over 7km long. Walking down this wide beach (80 metres) with a delicious ice cream is a real pleasure. You can enjoy plenty of water sports and beach activities here.
It is easy to access San Juan beach – just hop on the Number 21 or 22 buses or take the tram from Postiguet to Campello. The beach has Blue Flag status. Playa Muchavista is located a couple of miles further on from San Juan.
Playa Carrer La Mar
This is the main beach at El Campello and has beaches of sand and pebbles. It is ideal for families with toddlers! There is a great play area for children and a promenade with bars and eateries.
Playa La Albufereta
This beach is close to Postiguet and just a few miles away. It features wonderful golden sands, in an aesthetic bay setting, with plenty of opportunities for water sports and beach activities.
Playa Urbanova
Urbanova is located close to Alicante Airport – and is a perfect place if you want to sample some last moments of Alicante before you head for home! The grey sands offer great walking opportunities, where you can enjoy wonderful views of Alicante Harbour and Santa Barbara Castle.
Playa Arenales del Sol
Widely regarded as one of the best beaches is Alicante, this beach features long stretches of golden sand dunes and affords plenty of facilities for tourists.
Beaches at Cala de la Palmera and Cala Cantalars
These two beaches are part of the rocky Cabo de las Huertas. Not recommended for children as there is no sand – and very little services. But if you want to experience a unique and rocky landscape close to the waters then maybe this is the place for you!
Playa Lisa Santa Pola
This beach (which runs for 11km long) is located at the fishing town of Santa Pola. The town is less than 30 minutes drive away from Alicante, a 20km drive along the N332. There are plenty of watersport opportunities for both adults and children.
