Cultural Tour of Ireland - Eigse Carlow Arts Festival

While Ireland has a vast array of scenic beauty and history just waiting for you to discover, Ireland also has something else that makes it famous throughout the world; its people. The Irish are renowned for their hospitality and are always up for a little craic (fun). One of the best ways to encounter these characteristics is to attend such festivals as the Eigse Carlow Arts Festival in the town of Carlow.

Eigse Carlow Arts Festival, takes place from Saturday 7th of June to Sunday the 15th. It all happens in Carlow Town which will come alive with all manner of visual arts, crafts, theatre, dance, comedy, music, street theatre and workshops. There will be performers and artists from all over Ireland and also the World from such countries as the US, India, Sweden, South Korea and the UK.

The Eigse Festival brings many well known international and national artists to the stage. In 2008 the line up includes such artists as Micheál Ó’ Súilleabháin and Rex Levitates, who are collaborating on a modern dance piece backed by traditional music; Altan will be performing with the Carlow Young Artists Choir in the Carlow Cathedral; and there will also be the Wired Aerial Theatre from the UK performing their own highly praised, bungee assisted dance works presentation called 'Shopped'.

Many of the exhibitions, talks and street theatre will be free of charge though some of the music recitals and dance performances will have a small fee. There will be a special children’s programme as well so this festival is guaranteed fun for all the family.
