About Melbourne

Situated in the sweeping bay of Port Phillip on the estuary of the Yarra River, Melbourne is Victoria’s state capital and the second-most populous city in Australia. A multicultural metropolis humming with life, it is home to some of the world’s most exciting art, music, food, and design.  It is also sports-mad, with Melburnians going crazy around the Australian Football League (“‘footy”) finals and during Spring Racing Carnival.  Melbourne the home of the Australian Football League (10 of the 18 teams are from the state of Victoria), and it is also an important hub for cricket, horse racing, and sailing.
