Australian fuel prices really are amongst the cheapest in the world, so you’ll get pretty good bang for your Aussie buck if you're thinking of hiring a car. Just as well really as it’s a truly enormous country!
Check out our state by state table of current fuel prices down under (according to Oct 08 figures from www.exploroz.com). We think you'll agree it's the perfect companion if you're planning on tackling the land of Oz from behind the wheel:
STATE | LOCAL CURRENCY | PER LITRE | ||
| DIESEL | ULP (UNLEADED) | LPG (LEADED) | ||
| Australian Capital Territory | Australian Dollar | 1.682 | 1.507 | 0.624 |
| New South Wales | Australian Dollar | 1.693 | 1.514 | 0.688 |
| Northern Territory | Australian Dollar | 1.950 | 1.764 | 0.930 |
| Queensland | Australian Dollar | 1.626 | 1.445 | 0.693 |
| South Australia | Australian Dollar | 1.682 | 1.501 | 0.715 |
| Tasmania | Australian Dollar | 1.742 | 1.551 | 0.852 |
| Victoria | Australian Dollar | 1.647 | 1.497 | 0.623 |
| Western Australia | Australian Dollar | 1.746 | 1.601 | 0.735 |
If you're not sure about the value of the Aussie Dollar just long onto the XE internet currency converter. That way you'll get an exact idea of how much you'll be paying.
And one more thing... we update these figures quarterly so they're pretty spot on, but you can check the Exploroz website if you want up to the minute stats.
Anyhow, we hope this is of use to you, and we wish you all the best driving down under. Give us a shout if you have any questions or even you have a few things to add yourself. Enjoy Oz!
