Car Hire In The USA: Petrol Prices

The price of petrol (or gasoline as you’re more likely to hear in the states!) varies hugely according to each state. Generally petrol is measured by the gallon, which is equivalent to 3.79 litres to be exact.

Premium (or 4 star) petrol is going at USD2.482 per gallon to date, with diesel going for USD2.577 per gallon (taken from the Gasbuddy website.)

We update these rates quarterly, but they are subject to change and variable according to states, locations and other factors.

Fear not though, if you want an up to date prices in any particular area of the US (or Canada for that matter), just click on the Gasbuddy website yourself. You’ll get the low down on the cost of fuel all over the US and Canada, as well as a list of the cheapest fuel outlets in any one state. Perfect if you’re watching the pennies (or cents in this case!).

And if you've any problems with the conversion rate, just check out the XE online currency converter, that way you'll be sure of exactly how much you're paying.

Feel free to let us know how you got on in the US of A - any opinions, suggestions, questions or even stories would be more than welcome, so give us a shout!
